| Framing lumber trading was mixed after the holiday break, with
Canadian S-P-F setting a faster sales pace than that seen in western
species and Southern Pine. Some buyers worked from adequate
inventories and held back to discern the market's near-term direction.
Nonetheless, firm-to-higher prices far outweighed any softening, and
the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price ticked upward for a
second consecutive week.

Structural panel sales were lackluster. The OSB market was a grind, and
buyers stepped in almost exclusively for must-have purchases. Mills quietly
adjusted output to stay in step with demand, but many traders worried that the
market was still overproduced. An uneventful four days of trading left reported
Southern Pine plywood prices close to previous levels. Western Fir plywood
sales developed little energy coming off the holiday weekend. Many
decision-makers extended their holidays through the full week.
