| Trading was typically slow for
Thanksgiving week, and prices of framing lumber were flat to narrowly
mixed. While many producers fell back on order files, thinning files led
to discounting in Canadian S-P-F and Southern Pine. Prices in Coast and
Inland species were on a firm footing; offshore sales were steady to
active for Coast mills. Recent sharp price hikes in green Fir gave way
to gains of about $5. Wintry weather contributed to slower sales across
the continent.

Panel market
Structural panel markets were lukewarm. OSB sales were thin, but
producers coasted into the long weekend with prices that were firm or
slightly higher. Order files at most mills were static in the weeks of
December 6 or 13. The order flow to Southern Pine plywood producers was
uneven. Many distributors and office wholesalers focused solely on
selling from their inventories. Western Fir plywood mills rode the
coattails of last week's surge in business, but struggled to generate
additional sales.
