INTRODUCTION

Mest Limited is a company incorporated in Zambia and owns a saw milling plant at plot 3729 forest road kitwe. The company, which is privately owned, has its head office centrally situated in the city of Kitwe the hub of mining and engineering in Zambia. In the last three years the company has made substantial improvements in the quality of timber production. making Mest Limited a reliable provider of timber to the mining industry and the rest of the Copperbelt markets.

PRODUCTION
Mest Limited has its main production plant the Kitwe plant comprises a fully-fledged Soft Timber processing plant where production of various Timber sizes for different applications is carried out. The Timber Processing plant supplies timber for all the timber works as well as the construction industry. Mest Limited has the capacity to supply any timber requirements. The monthly production capacity is 12,000 pieces per month. We maintain a skeleton production team of 15 experienced employees

With timber production taking center stage at Mest Limited, the company抯 major objective is to be the best provider of processed timber in the country using highly qualified and skilled

personnel. The Mest Limited sales team is on the spot and at hand visiting all customers to
provide technical product support and after sales services to the market. The company through
its sales and prudent support team provides easy access to customers in most parts of the copperbelt hence the company has had the opportunity of dealing with diverse markets and has arisen to the challenge very successfully.

Currently the company is a reliable business partner to Mopani Copper Mines and is handling major supplies including Construction Companies like Minestone and CTS Limited . The company is also working very closely with some mining contractors involved in construction works.

QUALITY CONTROL
Every stage of production is subjected to vigorous quality control measures for timber out put and to meet customer acceptable standards.. A quality assurance team and system is in place and has proved very effective as evidenced by the almost nil failure rates on timber supplied for various purposes.

QUALITY ACCREDITATION
A program with the Zambian Bureau of Standards (ZABS) is in place intended to get SABS. The company has engaged a highly experienced and trained Production Manager whose initial task will be to get Mest Limited to ISO accreditation standards.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Research and Development has already been finalized and the company has this year introduced new products. The following ranges of processed timber and accessory products are being launched on the market by the end of year 2004 to meet the different applications of the end users.

2. Timber Products
3 Timber Floor Tiles.

Additional equipment equipment has been ordered to increase production capacity by three times the current capacity.

FUTURE OBJECTIVES
With the current product development plan underway, Mest Limited is focusing its resources towards the exploitation of Timber industry and industrial timber products market, hence substantial resources are being ploughed in the investment of plant refurbishment, maintenance

and enhancing the quality of the end products to be among the best in the region. As a result of this sums of money are being spent on manpower training and development, aimed at enhancement of staff skills.

Discussions are also underway with a foreign technical partner to introduce
foreign market penetration and other non Timber products June 2004.

Furthermore the company would also like to widen its income base by getting involved in the dealers/distributorship of other foreign companies?products because of the good network system the company has within the country.
