Heat-treated wood is an ecologically sustainable alternative to the t ropical hardwoods and an ecological friendly alternative to the chemically impregnated wood. Heat-treating wood means exposing timber to temperatures of up to 200 C which significantly changes the properties of the wood. Heat-treatment usually lasts for about 24 hours.
