The market entered pause-mode as players waited for the next upcoming tariff
deadline of April 2. Players across every segment and on both sides of the
border were tired of the whiplash and just wanted a final decision so they
could move forward with clarity.

In the week ending March 28, 2025, the price of benchmark softwood lumber
item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$545 mfbm. This is up
+$10, or +2%,from the previous week when it was $535, said weekly forest
products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.
That week’s price is up +$63, or +13%, from one month ago when it was $483.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$452 mfbm, that week’s
price was up +$93, or +21%. Compared to two years ago when it was $380, that
week’s price was up +$165, or +43%.
In the week ending March 28, 2025, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East
Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$475 mfbm. This is up +$7, or +1%, from the
previous week when it was $468.
That week’s price is up +$28, or +6%, from one month ago when it was $448.
When compared to the same week last year, when it was $400, that week’s
price was up +$75, or +19%. Compared to two years ago when it was $532, that
week’s price was down -$57, or -11%.
