INDONESIA

Chinese exporters keen to invest in Indonesia

According to Mari E. Pangestus, Trade Minister of Indonesia, a number of Chinese furniture exporters plan to build furniture factories in Indonesia to benefit from abundant raw materials like timber and rattan. A 28-member business delegation from Guangdong province visited Jepara, Central Java, famous for its carved furniture industry.

Through this venture, potential investors would bring in capital and technology and could export around US$300 million worth of furniture annually.
