FLOORCOVERINGS MARKET Report UK 2005 |
AKTRIN, in collaboration with MSI Marketing
Research for Industry Ltd.have released a new report on the UK floorcoverings Market. The most significant risk facing the UK economy in 2005 is a sharp housing downturn. A reduction in consumer confidence and expenditure is likely to result in a fall in prices. The UK economy is also at risk from slower international growth. A renewed recession in t he UK's major European trading partners could curb UK exports. Further pressure will be applied by the rising oil prices in the face of risks to supply and bullish global demand. Indeed, these factors may leave the government unable to meet its targets for public borrowing and it may need to break its olden rule on fiscal policy which says that during an economic cycle the government will only borrow to invest. Although the UK is well placed to withstand any large currency realignments that threaten world economies during 2005, it has been suggested that government forecasts that the UK economy will grow by a similar level to 2004, are optimistic. The UK floorcoverings market rose by 8% between 2000 and 2004 to reach a value of ?.6 billion (?3.8 billion). The carpet sector has remained the largest segment of the UK floorcoverings market during the review period. However, its proportional importance has decreased with the rising popularity of smooth floorcoverings. The sectors which demonstrated the largest rates of growth during the review period were laminate flooring, wood flooring and ceramic tiles. Forecast reveal that the UK market for floorcoverings will increase by 7% in real terms between 2005 and 2009. The following diagram shows the UK market for floorcoverings, by type, between 2000 and 2005. For more information about this report click: http://textile-info.com/178.htm |
