HRH is a wholesale lumber company whose sole concern is to promote the Island Tropical Forest Co. (owned and operated by indigenous Fijian peoples)

Background

In the early 1950's the British planted thousands of acres of Mahogany seedlings from Central America. Now over 50% is ready for harvest. Native species are also available such as Dakua (makes beautiful light colored hardwood)

HRH Hardwoods is only lumber company in Fiji partnering with an indigenous Fijian owned Company, Island Tropical Forest ITF. ITF buys and processes the logs. HRH is the marketing and financial arm. This gives us the great opportunities to see that the lions share of the profits go back to indigenous people and to have access to the very best logs. Also, I will be going to Fiji on a regular basis to oversee the grading and processing board by board.



FSC certification has started. We are currently investigating to see what has to be done to follow through to completion.



Right now we are putting up three grades of random width and length: (we will be more than happy to customize any grades and or sizes for partnered customers)





Select & Better virtually clear - 6? (occasional 5 緮) and 8? Ave. Width 9?.. Ave. Length = 13' There should be a high % of Pattern and FEQ allow for a VERY occasional pin Knot. (25 - 30% of total yield)


Marketing of the lower grades (grades other than clear selects) is essential to making use of the whole log which directly affects economical as well as environmental issues for the Fijians





Select with Pin Knots - Is the same as above with sound Pin knots as no defect. (25 - 30% of total yield)
Advantages:

? Machines very well.

? Very stable, stays flat and straight.

? Price and availability advantages over select grade for many applications. Such as:

O Outdoor uses for furniture, Porch floors, ceilings, & exterior trim shutters.

o Desire for a little more character in clear stain jobs.

o Paint grade and darker stain grades for mill work, doors and windows.





Rustic Grade - A combination of 1& 2 Common with all sound defects with the flooring market in mind. (30 - 35% of total yield)

? Very interesting visually

? Machines very well.

? Very Stable.

? Targeted main use 朠lank flooring, Rustic Flooring, ceilings, paneling Manufacturers, & furniture.
